Daily Times of Nigeria  is one of Nigeria’s oldest newspapers. It was incorporated in Nigeria on 6th June 1925 as the Nigerian Printing & Publishing Company Limited by Richard Barrow, L. A. Archer, Adeyemo Alakija and Messrs. V. R. Osborne. It started printing on June 1, 1926. The  headquarters is in Lagos, Nigeria. In the early 1930s, the paper became a popular voice of the nationalist movement. In 1947 the London-based Daily Mirror Group, bought the Daily Times. In the 1970s and '80s, it was one of the most successful locally-owned businesses in Africa, but it's performance/credibility and readership started declining after it was purchased by the Federal Government in 1975 (through the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria). The Federal Government of Nigeria acquired 60% of the Daily Times and the New Nigerian Newspaper, on  September 1st 1975.VISIT NEWSPAPER SITE

Folio Communication Ltd acquired Daily Times on 14th March 2007 when it was sold by the Federal Government.  The sale was riddled with so many lawsuits. Former employees were not paid severance allowances, but Folio later paid some of the employees who had been laid off. On March 1, 2011, Daily Times Digital news was launched. Folio Communications is also making every effort to revitalize  and rebuild The Daily Times as a sustainable enterprise.
